Breastmilk Bank- Victoria

Mercy Health is in the process of establishing Victoria's first Breastmilk Bank and are seeking donations and support to get this happening.

The Breastmilk Bank will be used to store donated breastmilk to give to sick and premature babies whose mothers cannot supply sufficient milk.

Mercy Health Breastmilk Bank will:
• Pasteurise the milk to reduce risks of infection
• Freeze and store the donated breastmilk
• Provide the breastmilk to sick and premature babies at
Mercy Hospital for Women

Wish they had have opened this when i was BF'ing.... i had loads of extra milk that i actually threw out

Its not open as of yet, but are trying to get it open.

Thanks for your support!
The breastmilk bank is currently operating on a small scale, between mother and her own child, to ensure all our equipment is operating smoothly and the testing mechanisms are fool proof.
We are currently waiting for the Minister of Health to provide us with a date for the official opening, later this year.
After that date, all information will be available on how to donate milk.
